San Antonio

We wanted to take a vacation this summer before the baby comes, but between baseball season and me trying to save my vacation days we decided the best thing was to do quick weekend away in San Antonio, which we did the first weekend in June.  We were typical tourists - river walk, the Alamo, the missions, Mexican food.  It was a good weekend, pretty hot, but we were able to still see a lot and not make my feet swell too much :)

Belly pic - 24 weeks

The Alamo

It's starting to become a nursery!

We got our crib and glider chair in this past weekend and Clint put it all togther on Sunday.  Here are some pics of our furniture fun!

Week 28

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week

How Far Along: 28 weeks

Fruit/Veggie: A chinese cabbage - 14.8 inches long head to toe and weighs almost 2.25 pounds.

Baby changes: She can blink her eyes, which now sport lashes. With her eyesight developing, she may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. She's also developing billions of neurons in her brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Best Moment this Week: We got our crib and our glider chair this weekend and set it all up!  Clint worked hard putting the crib together, I'll post pictures of the room progress so far soon.

Not a best moment, but I had an appointment on Friday which involved taking my glucose test and getting a Rhogam shot.  I was prepared for the glucose test to be the worst thing ever, so it ended up not being that bad, except I was pretty hungry.  The Rhogam shot definitely hurt, and I'm usually good about shots.
On Friday night we celebrated Father's Day with my family, so it was really good to get everyone together.  And little baby girl kicked for Matt :)

Gender: Sweet baby girl!  I think we're getting closer to a name, but I've probably said that before.

Movement: She's still moving around a lot.  At my appointment her heart beat was going strong and fast - possibly because she was all hopped up on the sugar from the glucose test!

Food Cravings: Still the same, nothing too exciting.

What I Miss: Running, wine, being able to keep up when I walk with people, clothes fitting.

Sleep: About the same.

What I am looking forward to:  We don't really have anything exciting going on this week - I have to work all weekend (my company is French and doesn't care about the 4th of July) so that won't be very fun.  But next week is the annual trip with all of the ladies in Clint's family, so that is something to be excited about!

Symptoms: I'm starting to get more uncomfortable, especially toward the end of the day at work.  I think it's just sitting all day, everything in my stomach just feels all smushed up together...probably because it is.  I'm starting to have more difficulty bending at the waist when I'm trying to go from sitting to standing or laying down to sitting up.

Week 27

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week

How Far Along: 27 weeks

Fruit/Veggie: A head of cauliflower - 14.5 inches long head to toe and weighs almost 2 pounds.

Baby changes:  She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

Best Moment this Week:  We had a busy weekend, which included buying Clint a new car!  He was having some airconditioning issues in his old car which were going to cost a significant amount to repair, so we decided to look into our options on trading his old car in and purchasing a new one.  We drove off the lot Saturday morning with a brand new Chevy Equinox...the funniest part was that the salespeople kept congratulating me on my new car - I guess most times a pregnant lady comes in to buy a new car it's for her, not for her husband :)

We took our hospital tour on Saturday afternoon so we are now fully prepared for Little Miss to come, right? :)  It was a pretty entertaining time, with the most pregnant ladies in one place at one time I have ever seen, and there were some who were all kinds of high maintenance.  I just sat back and let them ask all of the questions, and prayed every time that we got into an elevator that it wouldn't get stuck!

Finally, on Sunday we went out to Tomball for a joint Father's Day/Birthday celebration.  It was a good time with the Pasche's!

Gender: Sweet baby girl!

Movement: She's getting pretty busy at night now.  Last week at Bible study she was shaking my whole stomach, which Clint decided to announce to the entire group.  It was pretty entertaining.

Food Cravings: Still the same, nothing too exciting.

What I Miss: Running, wine, being able to keep up when I walk with people.

Sleep: About the same.

What I am looking forward to: The crib is in, so I think Mom and Dad are going to pick that up hopefully this weekend...can't wait to set it up and see the bedding in it.

Symptoms: My feet swelling isn't as bad as it was early last week, which is nice because I thought I was done for the rest of the pregnancy.  The heat situation has not gotten any better though...I think my days of sitting in a choir robe on Sunday mornings may be over.

Week 26

Okay, I'm determined to catch up this week!

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week

How Far Along: 26 weeks

Fruit/Veggie: An English hothouse cucumber - 14 inches long head to toe and weighs almost 1 and 2/3 pounds.  The longest cucumber I've ever seen!

Baby changes: The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat.

Your baby has settled into a distinct sleep-wake pattern. You may notice that sometimes she's very active and kicking or punching, and other times she sleeps. If you're lucky, these patterns will mimic yours.

Best Moment this Week: I got to travel up to North Texas with my parents this past weekend to visit my Dad's family.  It was good to see everyone there, especially Grandpa, who promised our litte girl a pair of overalls :)
Gender: Sweet baby girl!

Movement: I still feel her fairly often, and she is most active at night.

Food Cravings: Still the same, nothing too exciting.

What I Miss: Running, wine.

Sleep: About the same.

What I am looking forward to: This next weekend we are taking our hospital tour, celebrating Father's Day with our families, and Clint's mom's birthday!

Symptoms: The feet swelling is definitely getting worse, and I've turned into the typical pregnant women that is hot all of the time.  I'm assuming that's not going to get any better in the next few months, especially if we keep up these record temperatures!

Week 25

I know I'm a week behind, but I had already started this entry so I figured that I would just post it...and then I will just have to do two this week!  Work has been really busy lately and I just couldn't find the time to finish this before now.

Pregnancy Highlights for the Week

How Far Along: 25 weeks

Fruit/Veggie: A rutabaga - 13.5 inches long head to toe and weighs almost 1.5 pounds.

Baby changes: Her weight isn't much, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

As your baby grows, she'll take up extra space in your uterus, which means you'll feel her kicks, pokes, and rolls even more now.  Her hands are fully developed at this point, complete with mini fingernails and fingerprints, and are probably keeping busy touching and grabbing her face, feet, and the umbilical cord.

Best Moment this Week: On Friday we had another appointment and since we were getting an extra ultrasound, we decided it would be fun to invite our moms and sisters.  I think they really enjoyed getting to see our little girl in person, and definitely would have stayed there all day if the ultrasound technician had let them!  She wasn't as cooperative as she was last month, but she did give us a Gig 'em, which made all of the Aggies in the room very happy!

Gender: Sweet baby girl!

Movement: I still feel her fairly often, and she is most active at night.

Food Cravings: Still the same, nothing too exciting.

What I Miss: Running, wine.

Sleep: About the same.

What I am looking forward to: This weekend I'm going to head up to Whitesboro with my parents to visit all of the family up there.  Should be a fun and relaxing weekend.

Symptoms: Still feeling good, getting a little slower and more uncomfortable, and the feet swelling is starting, but still going strong.
