Birthday Eve and Birthday

One year ago on September 21st, Clint and I went to Hank's Ice Cream.  One of his co-workers had told him for a few weeks that if we went and I ate the Butter Pecan Ice cream, my water would break.  And, to our surprise, it actually worked!

We decided that it would be a fun tradition to start taking Clara to eat ice cream on her Birthday Eve.  This first year it would be to eat her first ice cream, but every year to celebrate the start of our life as a family of three.

When we got there on Friday night, the same lady was working that had been there a year ago, and she remembered us!  It was really fun to go back and re-live that night and to have Clara with us.  What a difference a year makes!

The next morning we had balloons for Clara to play with, ate pancakes for breakfast, and skyped with her Aunt Megan and Uncle Clay in Prague.

 Then we drove to College Station for a little family celebration at our Aggie tailgate.  We ate ice cream sandwiches and she got to open a few presents.  I think she had a great day turning one!

Twelve Months

• Walking everywhere - took her first unassisted steps Labor Day weekend, and in two weeks time was completely independent
• Can make animal noises for cows, dogs, cats, and monkeys
• Weaned completely to whole milk this month
• Spend Labor Day weekend in Breckenridge and had a great time with her cousins there
• First ear infection - both ears :(
• Went to Aggieland for her first tailgate
• Went to the Little Gym and loved it
• Had her first taste of ice cream on her Birthday Eve at Hank's Ice Cream

Sicky

First ear infection the week of her first birthday :(  One ear was badly infected and the other one was starting.  Poor baby, but she's tough and recovered quickly.

Teeth

Sorry for the food mess all over her face, but I love that you can see the two top teeth that she has now :)

Look Who's Walking

Eleven Months

• Two new teeth this month - the two second teeth on top
• Started "dancing" with her musical toys, and will shake back and forth when you tell her to "wiggle wiggle wiggle"
• Stands often with no support
• Walked behind her walker toy this month, but still doesn't seem super interested in walking alone
• Responds to "what does a puppy say" with "uhf" (woof) and "what does a cow say" with "bmoo"
• Went to the beach for the first time and loved the sand and the ocean
• First illness and fever this month :(
• Loves being read to - favorites are books with peek-a-boo flaps and textures
